No Poverty Climate Action
Why plant trees at all?
Worldwide deforestation have taken on insane proportions, with more than the entire area of Germany being deforested in one year alone.
Trees do not only serve animals as a necessary basis for life, but also help to clean the air we breathe. They help to filter the water we drink. And they help to absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere.
Exactly for these reasons, something must be done against deforestation.
Where and how?
We chose Haiti because the problem is extreme there and the effectiveness is the highest. Reforestation is a big challenge for Haiti. Centuries of over-exploitation and harmful agricultural practices have destroyed the region's soil. Erosion makes growing food very difficult and drastically exacerbates the effects of natural disasters.
Planting trees will help restore nutrients to the soil and teach local farmers how to use the land responsibly and profitably.
One Tree Planted is dedicated to fighting climate change, protecting biodiversity and supporting reforestation around the world.
Support these SDGs
The Sustainable Development Goals from the United Nations are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030.
